Platelet-rich fibrin is made from your own blood, drawn and spun in a centrifuge in our office. It separates into a soft yellow clot rich in fibrin, platelets, white blood cells, stem cells, and bone growth factors, with no additives or preservatives of any kind. Jawbone heals slowly because it carries far less blood supply than surrounding tissue, and an extraction site left to heal on its own sits open to saliva and bacteria for days. PRF changes that: it fills the defect, blocks gum tissue from growing into bone, concentrates immune cells exactly where infection risk is greatest, and delivers the growth factors that build new bone. We use it in extraction sockets, around implants where it improves integration, and in bone grafting, where it can bind graft material together or be pressed into a membrane that holds the graft in place. It's not a standalone treatment. It's an addition to surgery you're already having, and it reliably means less pain, less swelling, and faster, more predictable healing.
